Mother Posed As Another Parent To Remove Rival Child From Preschool Waiting List
If you’re a parent, you know that getting your child accepted into the right preschool can be a competitive and pressure-filled activity — especially if you believe that the right pre-school will put a child on the path to the Ivy Leagues.
You know the argument; to get into the right college you need right high school. To get into the right high school, you need the right elementary school and so on.
Well in the UK, a devious mother posed as another parent in an attempt to remove a rival child’s name from a school waiting list. The woman created a fraudulent Gmail account to fool school authorities at the “outstanding” Coleridge primary school in Crouch End, London.
Using this fake email account and having the child’s name and correct date of birth, she wrote to administration officials at the exlusive school and asked them to remove the four year-old girl from the list. Which they did.
The plan came apart when the victim’s mother called to inquire about the status of the application.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and the preschool is reviewing security measures in its admission process.
The victim’s mother told the London Evening Standard,
Everyone is desperate to get their kids into a good school but this is extreme behavior. This person clearly has issues to think doing this is acceptable.
